Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020

I shopped my first Nordstrom Sale in high school and always loved how it signals the start of fall. But this year is different. I think there’s been a lot of Nordstrom Sale exhaustion in the last few years and now more than ever, it might feel frivolous.

I’m not going to act like I don’t find solice in retail therapy, because I do and I’m not here to slam anyone promoting the sale, because here we are. However, I think it’s important to be more mindful this year—of associates, of each other and of your followers. If you can shop online and pick up on store, that’s a great option! If you’re going into the store try not the take things into the fitting room you aren’t seriously considering and for the love of god, wear a mask.

It’s really easy to get caught up in the sale, but also keep in mind a lot of retailers are going to run mega sales, from now until (and past) the holidays. If you’re shopping the Nordstrom Sale, I’d recommend going for 1 or 2 high-quality items that you won’t be able to find anywhere else on sale.

With all that said, I wanted to share 8 things from the sale that I’ve had or used for more than 4 years, because I only wanted to share my tried-and-true favorites:

nordstrom_barefoot

Barefoot Dreams Blanket ($89 – $120): I own two of these blankets and make no apologies. I’m ashamed to admit that our pug has commandeered one as his own, and I use the other.

Barefoot Dreams Cardigan Sweater ($66 – $86): I also own two of these bad boys and they’re an absolute treat. They are super cozy without making you overheat and hold up beautifully. No matter which style you go with, you really can’t go wrong. PRO TIP: It’s best to let Barefoot Dreams fabric air dry to maintain the fluffiness.

BLONDO Elvina Waterproof Bootie ($99): Of all the booties I’ve ever owned, these are my favorite. Especially when we lived in Chicago, it was nice not to have to worry about ruining your suede shoes if it rains a little. I own both the short and over-the-knee boots ($129).

nordstrom_kenneth

Gentle Souls by Kenneth Cole Carter Bootie ($90): I surprisingly get a compliment or two when I wear these shoes. They aren’t flashy, but they’re just a great cross between a bootie and sneaker. They are SUPER comfortable, have great cushioning and are also waterproof!

nordstrom_zella

Zella Live In High Waist Leggings ($39): I would categorize my obsession with Zella leggings as “very strong, bordering on unhealthy.” I work out in them, run errands in them, wear them to work…everything. They hold up beautifully over time, especially if you hang dry them (which I recommend with all of your athletic gear and knits). I currently wear a Small. I don’t own the sweater I’m wearing in the photo but Zella came out with new colors for the sale this year and you can shop it here.

nordstrom_blank

BlankNYC Faux Leather Moto Jacket ($49): I’m on my second iteration of this jacket (size change) and firmly believe everyone needs a good moto jacket. You can literally throw one on post workout and you look instant supermodel. I especially love this one with the black hardware.

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo ($34): As much as I’ve tried other dry shampoos, I always come back to this. The large size is a great value and a little goes a long way. Pro tip: spritz your dry shampoo at night so it has time to absorb excess oil and rub in while your sleeping. Win win.

Becca Backlight Primer ($23.40): I used this primer on my wedding day and it is my favorite everyday primer. It adds a gorgeous luminosity to the skin, but doesn’t make you shiny. If you don’t typically like primer but want to try one, I think this would be your winner.

Hoping you’re all staying happy, healthy and safe!
