Home Decor Looks for Less

As we’ve been decorating our new apartment, I forgot just how expensive moving and redecorating is. While we took a lot of our larger pieces with us, we have a lot more room in our new apartment. I’m going to slowly keep working on each room but for now, I wanted to share some of the home decor dupes I’ve found.

If you feel like splurging on a certain item, go for it! Just make sure it’s an item that you truly love and you’ll have forever. Just follow what makes you happy and you’ll create a space you love.

I have always dreamed of a tufted bed. With our move, a bed that costs nearly $2k was not in the budget. I did a lot of research trying to find a good quality bed that wouldn’t break the bank. I also didn’t want to wait a long time for a bed, so I turned to Amazon for 2-day shipping. Zinus as a brand had a lot of great reviews and the customer photos looked great, so we decided to go for it. Jacob put it all together and I was truly blown away with how it looked. I can’t speak as to whether or not it will hold up through a move down the road, but for right now, it looks beautiful, hasn’t fallen apart and was much nicer than I expected.

Pottery Barn: Harper Upholstered Tufted Low Bed $1,849

Amazon: Zinus Upholstered Traditional Tufted Bed $289

You’ll start to notice a trend: I start on Pottery Barn and then scour the internet for a less expensive dupe. Originally I wanted to go for farmhouse night stands and was about to order the Wayfair ones when I found some at Home Goods instead. While I love the Pottery Barn version, you would need to spend $1,000 on NIGHT STANDS alone. While the ones from Wayfair are slightly shorter, you’ll also save $800.

Pottery Barn: Etagere Bedside Table $499

Wayfair: Laurel Foundry Modern Farmhouse End Table $108.99

A velvet chair is great as an accent piece, or they make a very sophisticate alternative to traditional wood dining chairs. The Elowen chair has me lusting over color options, but you really can’t go wrong with grey, can you?

Anthropology: Velvet Elowen Chair $399

Overstock: Beatrix Velvet Side Chair $202

I have a thing for blankets but don’t always want them crowding the couch. A good blanket basket acts as a decoration as well as a storage solution. I think fabric or rope baskets are nice to help make sure your blanket doesn’t snag. You can splurge or you can save…and no one has to know one is from the kids section at Target 😉

Target: White Rope Basket $20
