If you have a boyfriend or husband and you’re anything like me, you’ve tried to get him going on a skincare routine. It ain’t easy. When my boyfriend and I first started dating, he just used water to wash his face and sometimes…bar soap (moment of silence, please). While it’s still a struggle, I’ve gotten Jacob into micellar wipes and a basic moisturizer. If I’m doing a mask and can get him to sit still, I’ll sometimes slap one on his face too.
My skin, and his, have been behaving pretty well lately, so I wanted to share a peek inside of our medicine cabinet, because who isn’t curious as to what’s inside someone’s medicine cabinet?!
Toners
I use all of these toners interchangeably, depending on the day and how my skin is acting. For a basic toner, the Pacifica works really well and is super gentle. I’ll have a review coming soon comparing the Pixi Glow Tonic and Glossier Solution as well. The Kopari toner has been my absolute favorite recently…it smells AMAZING! The biggest thing with toners is making sure that they don’t have alcohol in them. None of your skincare should have alcohol.
Moisturizers
The First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie Primer is a MUST for those of you who 1) Like to glow 2) Like multi-tasking products and 3) Love coconut. I’ve found that I don’t enjoy doing my makeup without this moisturizing primer. I use the Kate Somerville Anti Bac just on my T-Zone, you can read all about that here.
Other Treatments
As an eyelid scar update, I really credit Biocorneum (and my surgeon) for making my scars look barely there. I use this every night and most mornings. Other skincare treatments: I cannot sing enough praises for the Origins Drink Up Overnight Mask – it smells better than a fruit smoothie and makes you look 10 years younger.
Skincare for Men
If you can’t get your man to wash his face every night, at least try to get him a wipe. It’s good to just wash off environmental grime and your skin’s natural oils. Jacob loves the Cerave Daily Moisturizer because it’s gentle and absorbs quickly.
Jacob has also recently found a new cologne (that I love), Givenchy Gentlemen Only. Since I can’t describe the notes of a perfume/cologne to save my life, Sephora says, “Green Mandarin, Pink Pepper, Nutmeg, Birch Leaf, Cedarwood Texas, Heart Of Patchouli, Vetiver, Incense.”
Side note: Do the men in your life have a favorite deodorant? Jacob is struggling to find his one & only. Hope you all enjoyed and let me know if you have any questions down below!
