I’m assuming that by this point, everyone has heard about the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. Like so many others, I patiently waited for a restock and when it came, I called my Ulta that morning to ask if I should come ASAP or if I could wait until after work. “No, we have tons! Don’t rush,” said the kind employee on the phone. 8 Hours later I was looking at an empty display. I asked a sales associate if there were any in the back and he came back holding a box, looking at me like,
I originally thought I would be Fair but that was too grey on me. Light Sand is perfect.
I am not one of those people that wakes up looking like this. Let’s jump into some swatches:
I wanted to use The Body Shop Lightening Drops as the base so you could get an idea of how light the Light Sand shade is next to some other concealers I have.
Benefit Erase Paste – Fair: Currently on sale click HERE.
Maybelline Dream Lumi – Radiant: Obviously this concealer and the Erase past have a pinky peach undertone for correcting, but it gives you an idea of just how neutral the Tarte is.
Garnier Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller – Light/Medium: This concealer has a lot of orange but once again, gives you an undertone comparison for the Tarte.
This concealer retails for $24 and comes in 14 shades. It has 10 ml of product.
Now, let’s apply:
Starting with just my foundation, I apply the Shape Tape under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, and a little on the chin. As you can see, I’m working with some serious dark circles, so I like to add a touch of the Maybelline Radiant concealer in there to work on correcting while the Tarte conceals. I don’t like to layer as much as I do mix them together. Plus, it’s a time saver.
I apply this concealer with a small Real Techniques sponge. I don’t like how it looks when I use a brush and it definitly needs something beyond your finger to blend out seamlessly.
My friend asked if this concealer is worth it and I told her, “It’s like if a unicorn cried into a concealer to create magic.”
Lightweight, lasts beautifully, doesn’t cake up…what more do you want in a concealer? Maybe for it to be in stock…
I still haven’t been able to get my hands on Shape Tape. I’m glad you were able to!
