I have long been a fan of the Maybelline Color Tattoos and never really felt the need to try out a high end cream shadow. When I was at Ulta, I had some rewards saved up and decided to go for Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadow. I picked up the shade RSVP. I thought it would be close to my Inked in Pink from Maybelline, but realized side by side they are not a dupe.
Maybelline: These have a MUCH thicker consistency and are harder to blend. This color is a true pink and very pigmented but is difficult to blend with other cream shadows for a complete look. I don’t feel like this can be a “stand alone” color because it appears as though I just slapped on one shade.
Benefit: Immediately when I dipped my finger in the product, I fell in love. This thin consistency can give you a nice wash of color but is very buildable. This can give a pretty, sheer wash if you want and is a PERFECT base for other shadows too. In my opinion, this is just easier to blend and more versatile.
Verdict: Color Tattoos are great, but if you’re looking to splurge, the Benefit isn’t a waste of money.
