TGIF! Today I am sharing some e.l.f. products I generously received from Influenster. It’s no secret that e.l.f. is my favorite brand at the drugstore, so let’s check out some of these products:

Matt Lip Cream – Wine: I already had this color and it is gorgeous. These have a beautiful formula that is matte without being drying. My sister is also a huge fan of these, she loves layering hers with a gloss.

Lip Exfoliator – Mint: If you like mint, you’ll obviously like this a lot. I prefer the original better, but this one is still great! The packaging is so much more convenient than a pot so you don’t have to get your fingers dirty.

Baked Highlighter & Bronzer: I find that I have to use these baked products wet to get them to glow how I really want them to. The bronzer side is on this is on the warm side, so be warned if you’re fair.

Mineral Infused Face Primer: I’ve seen a ton of mixed reviews on this primer, so I was excited to try it out. I don’t know if this really helped my makeup last longer but it also didn’t do the opposite and make my makeup slide around. I’ll have some more e.l.f. products to review soon, so I’ll come back with my final verdict on this one.

Hydrating Bubble Mask: The first time I used this I didn’t notice a huge difference, but I think I did two things wrong. First, I think it makes a huge difference when you do a mask after the shower versus just washing your face. Your skin will absorb products best after a shower since your pores are so open. Also the first time I used this, I know I didn’t leave it on long enough because it didn’t bubble up this much. The packaging presses out the product, which is an added convenient bonus.

It’s no secret that I probably love skincare more than makeup, so I was very excited for this VoxBox from Influenster! I’ve tried some Ole Henriksen samples before with my Sephora orders but haven’t had the chance to use them consistently to really see their full potential. Let’s check it out:

IMG_3036Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster: Vitamin C is my favorite ingredient for skincare. From the scent to the glow, I really notice a different when I have Vitamin C in my skincare (I’ve used a lot of Vitamin C products from The Body Shop). This serum is fantastic. It absorbs into the skin very quickly and leaves the skin slightly tacky. I use it as a moisturizer/primer before my CC Cream in the morning and it goes under my nighttime moisturizer in the evening. If you’re looking for a new serum, I can already say this gets a big gold star.

POWER Bright: This treatment was nice, but I don’t know if it’s something I’d repurchase. A pack of 6 is $55, which is about $9 per treatment. This 3-step treatment has a polishing mask, a concentrate, and a melting cleanser as the finishing step. While my skin did feel nice after, it was a bit high maintenance to have 3 steps, even for me.

Cleansing Sponges: If you like cleansing sponges, I’m sure you’ll like these. Personally, I just prefer a good old fashioned wash cloth. I think it gives you just as much grit and also a larger surface.

Screen Shot 2016-07-18 at 10.41.53 PMSheer Transformation: This moisturizer is great! It is very thin and light but still offers lasting hydration. The only negative is that it comes in a jar, so just be sure your hands are clean.

That’s it! I hope this review was helpful and be sure to ask away with any questions I didn’t cover. xoxo

Happy Monday! It’s definitely starting to feel like summer so I’ve been trying to be more diligent about incorporating an SPF in my skincare routine, especially on the weekend. I was kindly sent the Osmotics Sheer Facial Tint in the shade light and so far I am really liking it.

Osmotics Sheer Facial Tint Review | Bolt Blogs

While this product might seem pricey at $39, it’s important to keep in mind that you are getting 1.7 oz of product versus the standard 1 oz for skincare items.

This product claims to:

  1. Offer sun protection
  2. Provide anti-aging benefits
  3. Even complexion

The consistency of this product is very thin. It has a slight sunscreen scent but nothing overpowering and it fades quickly.

After one layer – As you can see, this obviously isn’t a full coverage foundation but it did even out my skin a little bit and took away some of the darkness under my eyes. This sits beautifully under makeup because it is so thin. While I did produce a little more oil throughout the day, that’s to be expected with a sunscreen. This didn’t cause my mascara/eyebrows/liner to run at all.

Full face – I didn’t add any foundation on top so you could accurately see the coverage. I went in with some concealer, powder, bronzer, blush and some highlight.

You will like this product if:

  • You’re looking to add SPF into your routine
  • You don’t need much coverage
  • You have dry/normal skin

If you have oily skin I don’t think you’ll like this for day-to-day use, but it’s perfect for a day at the pool or beach!

I’ve been on a kick lately of trying to use up product. I’m overflowing a bit right now with samples/travel size products so I’m trying to use them up. While I was able to get more than one use out of some of these products, for the most part this is a first impressions. There were some things I really liked and others I washed off my face after putting them on…

All of these products were really great, but there were a few standouts:

  • Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation and BB Cream: I was hoping I wouldn’t like these because of the price tag, but they were absolutely gorgeous. The foundation didn’t have the best wear time and started breaking up around the 4-5 hour mark, but I didn’t really mind because of how naturally it faded and broke up. It didn’t turn splotchy or gross. If I were to buy one, I’d probably go with the BB cream. Gorgeous coverage.
  • Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream: Simply put, this just felt like luxury. The texture of this moisturizer was so unique, super soft, and overall felt like a dream.

These bottom two rows were terrible. Quick rundown:

Feels good to finally throw these away. Bye, samples. Until the next online order…

TGIF! Today I’m coming to you with an updated skincare routine! On Wednesday, I talked about how I’ve been shaving since July because it’s become a huge part of my skincare routine and knew it needed it’s own post to explain everything. Thank you for all of the positive feedback I got on here and Instagram on the photo! I have some great new things in my routine, as well as some staples from my 2014 skincare routine and last year’s 2015 skincare routine. Let’s jump in!

Bolt Blogs Skincare Routine 2016

Cleansing Routine | Bolt Blogs

If I’m doing a full face of makeup in the morning, I’ll wash my face but otherwise, I’ll just go into toner and my normal routine. In the morning I use the Olay face wash. I love the lather and it doesn’t leave my skin too dry. At night, I use the Kaplan MD Hydrating Milk Cleanser. In my last post I talked about another cleansing lotion, which I thought was nice, but the Kaplan MD really breaks up the makeup quickly. I’ll then cleanse or exfoliate, depending on what my skin needs. I completely credit the Boots Purifying Exfoliator for clearing up my problem skin. When I feel like a deep clean, I go in with the apricot scrub.

Morning Routine | Bolt Blogs

Products are in the order that I apply them!

You’ll see three staples in my morning and night routine that are consistent – the toner, serum, and spot treatment. In-between my last two skincare updates, I had a Caudalie serum I hated. I can’t find it online, so hopefully it’s been discontinued. I love The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Moisture Serum, it’s probably my favorite skincare item.

Bliss Exglossion Lotion

I just started using the Bliss ex-‘glow’-sion face lotion and it’s perfect for the morning. The consistency, stick with me here, is like a thicker version of Yoplait Whips yogurt! There is a slight citrus scent and it’s very refreshing in the morning. It sits under makeup beautifully. I got the Origins eye cream as a sample and I’ll probably buy the full size when the time comes. It’s very super illuminating and very hydrating.

Night Routine | Bolt Blogs

Products are in the order that I apply them!

I am in love with my night time routine right now. The Body Shop Vitamin E eye cream is another repeat from my last routine. The Tarte Maracuja Oil is also new. I was sad when I ran out of the sample of the Fresh Seaberry Face Oil, but have been liking the Tarte oil as well. Since I started using a night cream, I think I finally found one that I can tell is actually doing something for my face! The Boots Lift & Luminate Night Cream feels so soft and luxurious. When I use this, my skin feels so moisturized and plump. I can tell I will repurchase this.

Face Masks | Bolt Blogs

Lots of masks for lots of reasons! I like to use 1-2 masks a week, depending on what my skin needs.

  • Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx Peeling Gel: This stuff is wild! It’s a resurfacing mask that rubs off your dead skin and it is so oddly satisfying. Because you only need to do this
  • Montagne Jeunesse Fruit Mask: I’ve decided this is probably my favorite “suck out your pores” mask. I can’t find the fruit one online, but it’s always in the checkout tower of doom at Ulta. These are only $1/2 and really clear out your skin.
  • Origins Out of Trouble: Be warned, this mask smells like menthol if you aren’t a fan of that scent. This mask is nice to just balance out your skin when it is “blah.”
  • Origins Clear Improvement: This charcoal mask is nice, but I’m not sure it’s worth the price. I’m glad I got this in a sample pack. Out of the three, I like the Drink Up the best.
  • Origins Drink Up: This mask has been saving me while I’ve been sick lately! It smells delicious and really locks in moisture overnight, but I don’t wake up oily.
  • Nip+Fab Soften Kale Fix: You can read all about this mask here

Lip Care:

Kaplan MD | Bolt Blogs

I think a part of the face people neglect are lips! To prep for lipstick, I use the eos balm and throughout the day I love the Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm. If I’ve been wearing a matte lip all day and need to rehydrate them at night, I go in with this Kaplan MD duo. Let me say, I was extremely skeptical of a lip mask at first but as you can see, I’ve made a hefty dent in this mask. It plumps your lips up and tingles a little, but really works. The lip balm smells a little “medical” but doesn’t taste bad at all. It’s a thin consistency and I like that it soaks up quickly.

Well, that was a lot of product! Hopefully this helped, please let me know if you have any questions! Happy Friday! xoxo
