I truly wish Christmas happened in July because I hate winter. I dream of white Christmases, if you’re referring to a white sandy beach. Since I live in Chicago though, I have an arsenal of cold-weather essentials that I use to keep cozy when it’s freezing out.

Faux-Fur Blanket: This blanket is what keeps our heat bill down. It is heavy, warm and super luxurious. It’s a little pricey but it is absolutely gorgeous and makes a great gift.

Moisturizing Mask: When the heat is on, your skin is drying up big time. This mask not only smells like a tropical delight, but it’s also super hydrating and makes your skin look gorgeous when you wake up.

Pom Hat: This hat comes in a few different colors and is super soft. The pom is also just really fun for winter.

Sweatpants: Splendid apparel is definitely a splurge but these sweatpants are amazing. It’s the perfect loungewear and holds up beautifully in the wash. Pro tip: keep an eye out at Nordstrom Rack – Splendid pops up there all the time.

Barefoot Dreams Cardigan: If butter were a fabric, this would be it. If you haven’t touched Barefoot Dreams fabric, you need to. I live in my cardigan around the house. I purchased a L/XL and it’s slightly long in the sleeves, but that’s how I wanted it at home. If I were to buy another for the weekends, I’d get the S/M. They also have extended sizes here.

Pine Candle: This is my all-time favorite pine scent. It smells just like a real tree but isn’t overpowering when you burn it. The jar is also beautiful and looks great with holiday decor.

Fuzzy Socks: Earth Therapeutics has my favorite fuzzy socks because they are infused with shea butter to help moisturize your feet plus keep them warm.

While I’m not huge on winter, I still try and make the most of it. Fuzzy blankets, twinkly lights, hot chocolate and of course the most festive tee of them all 😉

This is a little nuts, but there are less than two full weeks of 2017 left! What’s even scarier is that I don’t have all of my Christmas shopping done. Normally I’m more prepared, but it’s been a crazy month. I’ll recap next week in my 2017 Review next week.

For now, let’s talk New Year’s Eve fashion! Believe it or not, this year will be my first time going out for NYE! In college, I was at a bowl game for marching band my sophomore, junior and senior years, so no going out for me. Last year was actually the first year Jacob and I spent together for NYE and we played it so low-key that I think I fell asleep before midnight.

This year we are actually going out for NYE and celebrating in style! I have an outfit in mind, but I’m not entirely sold yet. One underrated option I love for NYE is a jumpsuit.

NYE Jumpsuit Outfit Ideas | Bolt Blogs

Jumpsuits great because:

  1. Shorty can get low without her panties popping out
  2. You can carelessly cross your legs
  3. Shaving becomes optional
  4. Number 3 should be reason enough
  5. It’s cold out (for most of us)

These are all great options for…

  • Cocktail parties – just add statement jewelry
  • Work functions – throw on a blazer
  • Date night – you don’t need a reason to get fancy

No matter how you celebrate this NYE, remember to have fun and drink lot of bubbly, but most importantly, BE SAFE.

Google if your city has free/discounted ride options on NYE. Most major cities have free public transportation on NYE. If not, ask a parent or family member, pay your BFF’s younger sibling $50 to come scoop you up (which will be cheaper than a surcharge) or even look scheduling a car service depending on the size of your group. Whatever you do, be safe. *Mom rant over*

While it may feel too early to talk about holiday shopping, October is my favorite time to start shopping for Christmas gifts. Summer items are on super clearance and fall items are marked down to make way for holiday products. If you can wrap your head around there being only two months left in 2017, the Rebecca Minkoff Sample Sale is a great time to stock up (hello, $25 cardholder stocking stuffers).

Yes, I did indeed get two of the same sweater, because I’m that person. It’s super soft and has the cutest side slits. It runs large, so I got an XS. I’ll probably style mine with a long tank underneath and skinny jeans with boots.

The Rebecca Minkoff store in Chicago on Oak Street is currently lined tables and filled with endless rows of bags. It’s kind of like heaven. The sale started yesterday so it wasn’t picked over, but I imagine it’ll be looking rough come the middle of the week.

I own the grey back at the center of this photo and it’s one of my absolute favorites. You can check it out in blush, grey or black. It’s a great size for carrying everything that you need without looking overly bulky.

Happy shopping!

It’s officially fall and now it’s just time for Chicago to get the memo and cool off. I took advantage of Macy’s triple points this weekend and also stopped by Macy’s for a super fun event with Shai from Drunk on Shoes. I just did a huge closet and makeup clear out and it feels super nice to have a lighter closet. I really love the few pieces I got and am excited to try and style them a bunch of different ways to recycle the looks.

The ruffle-sleeve cardigan comes in SIX colors. I bought a large because the sleeves on the medium were a bit too tight.

The flannel is super soft and fits like a glove. I’m wearing a small below. There was a big difference between the small and the medium so if you’re in-between sizes, I’d size down. The turtleneck sweater comes in two colors and I’m also wearing a small.
