June! Ah! If you came over from Instagram, you’ll know I said it wasn’t a huge makeup month for me but let’s check out what I was into!
Harvey Prince Hello: This stuff came in a Birchbox and when I ran out of the sample I just had to buy more. It is a beautiful scent and so nice for everyday.
Benefit Hoola: An oldie but a goodie is back!
Rimmel Stay Matte – Translucent: I’ve been shiny this month and not in a good way so this has been awesome.
Colour Pop – Bill: This matte shadow is so pretty and can take on pink, plum, or taupe depending on how you layer it.
Colour Pop – Stole the Show: This highlight is not for the subtle, but it is stunning.
Eco Tools Fan Brush: I’ve been using this to apply my bronzer and have really been loving how it looks. Really fun brush to have!
Hello, very long time no talk! I’ve had a very busy month so let’s recap:
- Hosted a giveaway at the beginning of the month (boy…I wonder if another one is coming up soon…?)
- Went home to surprise my mama for Mother’s Day
- Came back to school to finish my JUNIOR YEAR of college
- Started summer school
- Took a road trip home with my sister, brother-in-law, nieces, their dog, and my boyfriend (they live in CO and picked Jacob and I up in IA to head to IL)
- Summer school “midterms” (because 2 weeks = halfway done!)
Phew! Well, that’s nothing! Needless to say, it’s been a busy month so I apologize for the lack of posts. I have more planned for the month of June but in the meantime, let’s review my favorites for the moth that helped me with all the busy activities…
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush – Fearless: This blush came in my Sephora Summer Obsessions 2015. I love this bright pink and it adds a very natural flush to the skin when it’s sheered out.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette: I cannot rave about this enough. If you’re going to get one high-end product ever, I’d say this should be it. I’ve specifically been using the warming shade as a bronzer after I read that Margo Robbie wore this as her bronzer/contour at the Oscars. I can see why. Specifically, I like the use it with the Too Faced Teddy Bear Brush (I don’t believe you can get this individually but it comes in a lot of sets).
Benefit’s Watt’s Up: This highlighter packs some major punch. I like that it plays nicely over powder whereas a lot of cream formulas don’t. This is a gold tone and looks gorgeous!
Benefit’s Fake Up: This concealer has been neglected for awhile but has really made it’s way back to the front of my drawer. It isn’t heavy coverage but is nice to smooth and conceal a little darkness under the eyes on natural days.
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer: I have waited for this bronzer for too long! It actually reminds me a lot of Hoola but the colors are slightly different. It reminds me of Hoola in the way that it really adds major definition. I have preferred it for contouring over bronzing…I tend to like a bronzer with a little more orange for all-over.
Marcelle Hydrating Gel: I got this sample in a recent Birchbox and initially wrote it off. I’ve really been enjoying it for under my BB creams, though. Sometimes I don’t think my BB creams are alway hydrating enough (I wear them as foundation most days) but if I moisturize underneath I am far too oily. This is perfect for adding hydration without layering too much on my skin. I’m not sure if I’m going to purchase this one exactly but now am very interested in trying other moisturizing gels.
If you have a favorite moisturizing gel, please let me know in the comments! xoxo Nicole
February couldn’t have been anymore perfect. This month I got some awesome goodies and got to have a lot of fun playing with them during such a busy month!
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette: This beauty was a Valentine’s Day gift from my parents. I have been lusting over this palette for a long time now. Swatch it. Smell it. Buy it.
Benefit Roller Lash: I got this as a sample in my Birchbox and I could not have been more excited. As I’ve said before, I have a love/hate relationship with They’re Real. This one, is definitely for me. It is very separating and HOLDS A CURL! I am going to have more info later, I’m hoping to do Mascara Madness again this March! (note: not for bottom lashes in my opinion)
Physician’s Formula Extreme Shimmer Gel Cream Eyeshadow Set – Nude: When I saw Tati haul these, I had to find them. They were fun this month as an extra pop of glitter on top of eye looks. My only problem with these is that they smell weird.
NYX Cream Blush – Natural: This is my favorite cream blush! It really is just the perfect “natural” color. It looks beautiful on it’s own and you can layer other colors on top too.
eos Lip Balm Coconut Milk: I got both flavors awhile ago because I was afraid they were going to be LE but they look permanent. This scent is my favorite of the two and smells amazing! These balms are perfect as lip primers too.
That’s it! What were your favorites this month?
January was a busy month for me and February is about to get even busier! I had a lot of great favorites this month, a little more diverse than normal. Let’s chat:
Burt’s Bees Lip Balm with Pomegranate: I was without this lip balm for a few months, trying to finish others first but I’m convinced nothing compares. This and the eos balms are my favorite.
MAC Brave: This is my first MAC lipstick and I am so in love. It is the perfect color I have been looking for. I think I might want to do a blog post soon talking about my past experience with MAC…
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer (Radiant): This has been on my wish list for so long! I recently had a sample of the YSL Touche Eclat in shades 1 and 2 and wasn’t impressed. I don’t know that the Maybelline Randiant and YSL 1 are a perfect dupe because I didn’t have them side by side, but they are close.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eye Liner: Once upon a time, my sister put liquid eyeliner on me and it looked so terrible we cried laughing and I’ve never made an attempt since. I got this eye liner in the Sephora Favorites Super Stars and while it took some practice, I’ve finally got liquid eye liner down!
LE Tarte Park Avenue Princess Palette: *I believe* this is still available on Tarte’s Website. If you can pick it up, I’d do it!
Also, special S/O’s to: Bliss High Intensity Hand Cream for getting me through Denver’s dryness as well as my two new RT’s brushes (Expert Face and Setting Brush)!
What a month! I always want to enjoy December more than I feel like I get to. It just always feels so rushed and then all of a sudden it’s the holiday and then it’s done! Listening to Christmas music always gets me in the spirit, along with my pine scented candle! Let’s get into what I was loving!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette: I think people either love this or don’t think it does enough and return it. I got mine during the VIB sale and am so so glad I did. I use the shade on the left for setting my under-eyes (it doesn’t looked caked or powdery), the middle for highlighting, and the right for adding a little warmth on my cheeks.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream: I am a huge fan of this eye cream. It is very hydrating but lightweight which makes it perfect for going underneath makeup.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow – Sin: I just use my finger to pop this in my inner corner and brighten things up! I also have a drugstore dupe for this product here!
Physician’s Formula Multi-Colored Bronzer: PF just knows how to do bronzers! This is my second one of these bad boys. It isn’t too orange and is just a great bronzer! (not contour)
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment: This is a mini from the Sephora Favorites and I love it! It comes off like a warm pinky, really just enhances whatever your lip color naturally is. Great balm for the cold.
