I cannot believe today is the last day of June. June was a crazy month and July doesn’t look like it’s slowing down! This month my boyfriend headed over my way from Iowa a few times, we had a family wedding in Kentucky (picture a Pinterest-inspired outdoor chic wedding but better), and I met Emily from Beauty Broadcast over on YouTube!IMG_2103

Emily was so sweet and it was great to meet someone that I really look up to and have followed for years. I think I was in middle school when I saw her first video!

Now for my beauty favorites this month! Pretty minimal. I’ve been in a very set makeup routine for work that I have down to about 10 minutes since I wake up so early. Anyway, here’s what we have going on:

Coconut Oil: I am OBSESSED. I don’t know why I waited as long as I did to jump on this train. I had some wax on my eyebrows I couldn’t get off so I decided to raid the kitchen pantry. I took a little of this and not only did the excess wax come right off, but my skin was super soft in the morning and I smelled like a Piña colada. Even better, I didn’t break out, which tends to happen when I wax my brows (anyone else?). This could’ve been a coincidence, but I thought it was worth noting. Feet, cuticles, lips, face…it’s my new BFF.

The Body Shop Body Butter – Grapefruit: I feel like Estée, another empties, another body butter. This grapefruit scent was so delicious and refreshing. Not for those shy of a strong scent!

Harvey Prince Hello: This perfume is so yummy. I used a smaller size of this all last summer and now I’m halfway through this one. It’s good. Give it a smell.

ColourPop – Spoon: I’ve been mixing Spoon and Stole the Show for the perfect silver/golden highlight. Spoon is a little more reflective and silvery so it’s perfect layered over a more golden highlight. It also looks amazing in the inner corners of the eye. I basically look like this when I mix the two highlighters:

Hope you all had a great month too! xoxo

Bolt Blogs Empties #8

Holy Empties. I love some trash talk. Believe it or not, there is only one product in this bunch I didn’t like! It was the Caudalie Serum.  I can’t find this online so I’m assuming it’s been discontinued. This serum did nothing, smelled kind of funny, and overall made me sad I wasn’t using something else. But for that price tag, I finished it. A product I liked as a primer but not a setting spray is the NYX Matte Finish Spray. I found it helped my makeup stay put when it was applied first rather than last.

A hidden gem in this pile are the makeup wipes from Walgreens. They are very stretchy, smooth, and take off makeup really well. I think these are definitely a drugstore treasure.

One product that I haven’t replaced but is on my list is the Vasanti BrightenUP! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator. This scrub has the consistency of a paste and does a great job of giving your skin that deep-clean feeling without scratching your skin. I will say that this did leave me with a little bit of redness, but my skin didn’t feel irritated. The sample size lasted a pretty long time and I only used it 1-2 times/week, so I wouldn’t feel like the $34 price tag is too much if you think of it as a treatment.

Other than the serum, I honestly love everything else in this bunch. Here are some more in-depth reviews on 3 of these products if you want to check them out:

Dry Bar Triple Sec and Amika Texturizing Spray

The Body Shop Vitamin E Night Cream

I’ve been on a kick lately of trying to use up product. I’m overflowing a bit right now with samples/travel size products so I’m trying to use them up. While I was able to get more than one use out of some of these products, for the most part this is a first impressions. There were some things I really liked and others I washed off my face after putting them on…

All of these products were really great, but there were a few standouts:

  • Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation and BB Cream: I was hoping I wouldn’t like these because of the price tag, but they were absolutely gorgeous. The foundation didn’t have the best wear time and started breaking up around the 4-5 hour mark, but I didn’t really mind because of how naturally it faded and broke up. It didn’t turn splotchy or gross. If I were to buy one, I’d probably go with the BB cream. Gorgeous coverage.
  • Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream: Simply put, this just felt like luxury. The texture of this moisturizer was so unique, super soft, and overall felt like a dream.

These bottom two rows were terrible. Quick rundown:

Feels good to finally throw these away. Bye, samples. Until the next online order…

Happy Empties! These are all of the empties I collected during my 100 Day No-Buy (you can see things I purged as well here). I normally do a review on all of my empties, but I have a lot for this round, so I’m just going to review some of the highlights. Any other questions, please leave me a comment down below!

The Body Shop Almond Body Butter: This stuff smells like absolute heaven and I definitely need another as Winter approaches for my dry skin! — Update: just looked this up for a link and they don’t have it 🙁 So I’ll link to the Almond Natural Hand & Nail Cream here. Hopefully the scent is the same. Tear.

Neutrogena Hydro Gel: I was unsure about a facial gel for a moisturizer until I tried this! I think I’d prefer this formula in the summer over winter, but I was shocked how plump it made my skin feel. Highly recommend if you want to try this type of product out!

Fresh Black Tea Eye Cream: This stuff was crazy luxurious and I’m so happy I got such a large sample from Sephora! I don’t know that I could ever fork over $85 for an eye cream, but it was fun while it lasted.

Colgate Optic White: I don’t think I’ve ever talked about a toothpaste on my blog, but this one is seriously great. If you need a new toothpaste, I’d give this a try!

The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner: I really, really liked this toner. I think it stood out as so great because it was so gentle around my eyes and didn’t make my skin feel dried out after using it.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum: This was my first serum, so I didn’t know just how much I liked it util I tried another that I’m not as big of a fan of. This one is light, almost gel like, and very moisturizing.

Bliss Face Wash: This sample went on many trips with me and I loved it. It smells great and always made my face feel super clean. It has the tiniest, tiniest beads/exfoliants in it but it can definitely still be used everyday.

Hello! These are all of the empties I collected before my no-buy began! I have since started to collect a new bag and I’m excited to see all of the things I finish up! In the meantime, here’s what’s in my trash bin:

Empties #6

REPLACE | Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes: I like these but they are a little greasy after.

REPURCHASE | CVS Detoxifying Cleansing Towelettes: These are my favorite towelettes I’ve tried so far.

NEVER AGAIN | Yes to Cucumbers Face Cleanser Towelettes: I HATE these. I really hate to hate a product, but I’m not a fan. They irritate my skin and I found others who commented on my Instagram picture about these agreed.

REPLACE | Bath & Body Works Creamy Body Wash: They don’t make this anymore, hence the replace, but it was nice while it lasted.

REPURCHASE | No7 Purifying Exfoliator: If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I’ve been struggling with my skin lately. I realized, a lot was because I ran out of this, so I ordered another. I think it definitely helps to keep my skin clear. If you’re struggling with your skin and want a new exfoliator, I would recommend giving this a try.

REPURCHASE | eos balm: LOOK how far down I got! I was proud.

(would) REPURCHASE | True Blue Spa Exfoliator: This was a year old and I can’t find it online but if they ever bring it back, it smells great!

REPURCHASE | The Body Shop Vitamin C Facial Cleansing Polish: I loved this and bought another as soon as I ran out. It is so refreshing and makes my face feel really clean.

REPLACE | Bare Minerals Matte: This took Forever to run out. I liked it, but would purchase a different powder foundation instead.

REPLACE | Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion: This was ok but I like something a little extra hydrating. If you like something light and non-greasy, this is great.

(would) REPURCHASE | Minu Shampoo: I really liked this shampoo a lot and next time I need shampoo, I think I might purchase this. It smelled sort of herbal and got my hair really clean without taking away too much moisture. Great for someone who doesn’t like washing their hair very often…

REPURCHASE | L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper: This stuff is great and I have another already.

Q: What is your favorite powder foundation? Please let me know!
